Only ignorant and stupid people believe that they are killers and to this extent bait dead goats and other animals with deadly poisons to kill off this magnificent bird. They are the 'cleaners', the avian garbage disposal team on our planet, surviving on dead animals and are an essential part of nature. Timur Si-Qin is a New York-based artist of German and Mongolian-Chinese descent who grew up in Berlin, Beijing, and in the American Southwest. Drawing on the concept of religions as an adaptive system of meaning for collective action, New Peace recognizes the central spiritual value of nature, and states that only through this type of deep cultural shift, the impacts of climate change may be mitigated. The work is part of Si-Qin’s long-term meta-project New Peace – a proposal introducing a new secular faith in the face of climate change, global pandemics, and biodiversity collapse. Through a portal within the temple, the viewer is invited to enter a virtual sacred locus of contemplation. Si-Qin’s work in the exhibition presents a temple cave that connects the biotopes and organisms of the botanical gardens to a parallel landscape. It challenges common notions of organic vs synthetic, natural vs cultural, human vs nonhuman, and other dualities at the heart of Western consciousness. Timur Si-Qin’s work takes form through diverse media and creates a new kind of environmental art. Today, the Institute is a national and international reference in contemporary tropical landscaping. The gardens, which began to be built in the 1980s, were designed by Pedro Nehring, who is still responsible for the landscaping of Inhotim. In 2010, Inhotim was recognized as a Botanical Garden, a title awarded by the National Commission of Botanical Gardens (CNJB). In 2021, Instituto Inhotim was awarded the Grant Awarded – BGCI’s Global Botanic Garden Fund, an international incentive that recognizes and supports projects that work towards plant conservation. The Inhotim Botanical Garden (JBI) manages the collection and botanical collections, comprising more than 4,300 native Brazilian and exotic species from around the world, in addition to researching and monitoring the Institute's natural heritage. How long until it went flat again? Five minutes? Ten? An hour?Īs I stood helpless by the side of the road weighing my options, a girl in a Stanford kit rode past, yelling, “need help?” But as I pulled the cartridge away, I could still hear a hiss of air. I finally succeeded in wrangling the new tube into place and shot it with a blast of C02. A police officer on a motorcycle pulled over to observe my struggle. I fought with the tire as ten, twenty, thirty cyclists blew past. Numb and lifeless, my Mickey Mouse paws refused to cooperate. …but there was just one crucial element missing: I know I can change a tire in under 3 minutes, and I had all the tools I needed. My tire changing skills are at least on a par with my transition skills, and until today I had not had the pleasure of testing them out in a race environment. Although disappointed, I remained calm as I pulled over to confront my situation. I didn’t get a good look at the rock that attacked me, but I was not even two miles into the bike when I heard the crack of carbon rim colliding with something it shouldn’t, and the accompanying fizz of a rapidly deflating tire. It was chilly as I started out on the bike, so I immediately set to work on gaining speed and heat at the same time. The run to transition was REALLY long, but my T1 was 3:15, fastest of the women, despite the epic battle between my wetsuit and my frozen hands and feet. Unsettling though that was, my swim time was OK, so I must not have gotten too far off course. The aerial diagram of the swim course had seemed pretty straightforward, but down at sea level, the boats blocked the view of the buoys, so navigation was tough. The swim took place in a harbor, and as such, it was filled with boats. The swim started some distance out from shore, and since we couldn’t hear the announcer from way out there, many of us were still in deep discussion about the possible location of the buoys when the race started. I tried to get a warm-up swim in before the race start, but the combination of salt water buoyancy and my instinctive recoil from anything so obnoxiously cold meant that I just skimmed along the top of the water like a cat, without actually getting wet. On this grey day, the ocean swim did not look particularly inviting, and the water temperature, at “56-59 degrees,” was definitely freeze-your-face-off cold. Luckily, this time around my rack-mates were courteous and accommodating, and there was room for all of us. I still have bad memories from a race back in Illinois, where I was sassed by a group of snotty, entitled teenagers when I asked them to make space on the rack for my bike, so I greatly prefer pre-assigned transition spots. It was cold and foggy in the morning and transition was first come, first served, with a pretty good size crowd (800+). International distance is what I do best, and I knew it would feel delightfully short after last weekend’s 70.3 Then IF I write that goodbye note, I can tell the people saying that stuff to shove it up their ass.I was pretty fired up for the Half Moon Bay International Triathlon. I will feign happiness, confidence, "just beeing myself bro", all the bullshit. And I don't fucking want to live 70 years single. It is a pretty long deadline so if I don't make it by then, I'm not going to. And if I am not satisfactorily far enough away from feeling FA by the next solar eclipse in 2024, I'm going to end it. I'll fight even though at this point sometimes it feels like I'm actually draining my own life-force to do so. Jeez, this is more morbid to type out than I expected.Īnyway, I've got some fight left in me. I can't genuinely quit this game of loneliness without quitting everything else, but I'm smart enough to know that doing it spontaneously is not the way to do it. I have been thinking a lot about "quitting". Not a particular method to escape FA necessarily but a gameplan and contingency in case of failure. Now more than ever I feel like that underdog and after doing some thinking, I have a plan of action. I have always been really excited by the idea of an extremely outranked underdog beating insurmountable odds to defeat or overcome an obstacle. 8/4/2023 0 Comments Ewallet go reviewFor a Tyvek wallet, the Mighty Wallet is also surprisingly sturdy-feeling.įrom there, the most important factor for us to assess was ease of use. They’re not all to everyone’s taste, but even if you’re looking for something simple, the Mighty Wallet line has it. The Mighty Wallet comes in a plethora of fun designs, and that’s where it really shines: You can get one that looks like an airmail envelope (a nod to the material that’s usually used for such shipments), a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, even a New York City subway map-currently there are 40 designs in all. Cards fit neatly and snugly in the pockets, though we wish there were a few more interior slot options rather than the expandable two pockets that require you to fish around to find what you’re looking for. With two expandable card pockets, two cash pockets (honestly, just one would be enough and would save on some of the wallet’s thickness), and two hidden pockets along the edges of the wallet, the Mighty Wallet isn’t short on storage. Why it’s great: The Mighty Wallet has been around since 2005, and to many people it’s the original Tyvek wallet. The wave-patterned wallet we’ve been using has gotten compliments almost every time we’ve taken it out, with several people remarking that it reminded them of items from Goyard. Only three of them aren’t solid colors (compared with the several dozen you can get from other Tyvek-wallet brands), but we’re particularly enamored of the repeating Monyou wave (a traditional Japanese pattern) and cubic patterns, which are far more sophisticated than the patterns generally found on Tyvek wallets. What makes the Slimfold Micro Tyvek a standout, though, is the sophistication of its patterns. We could easily slip five cards into the left slot and two cards each into the two on the right-with each of the back hidden pockets holding three cards, the wallet can accommodate 15 cards easily. The wallet is a delight to use, as cards slide easily into any slot. Its layout is exactly the same as that of the Slimfold Micro Soft Shell, with three card slots, one cash pocket, and two hidden card slots behind the cash pocket, only there’s no clear plastic panel on the left slot. For starters, Tyvek is a DuPont invention that spins together polyethylene fibers to create, essentially, a very durable paper. Why it’s great: The Slimfold Micro Tyvek Wallet is so appealing in appearance, it’s the one I’ve been carrying almost every day since working on this guide. The grippy rubber interior did keep the cards very secure, though. In our tests, we found that claim to be true, though we also found it cumbersome to sort through any more than three cards simply because they’re all just stacked into one pocket without any separation. The pockets are lined with rubber for maximum grip, and Allett claims you can fit five in each, for a total of 10 cards. The Allett Leather Sport Wallet gets around this problem by using soft leather just for the exterior-the interior is a moisture-wicking nylon with just two card pockets. It’s easy to find cheap leather card holders, especially made of tougher leather, but cheap leather wallets are much harder to come by because more leather equals more expense. Why it’s great: The problem with a lot of the cheaper leather wallets is that they fall short in much of what we look for-they have low-quality leather (just coming from an actual cow is not enough), they have loose and uneven stitching, and they’re often so stuffed with pockets and flaps that they barely count as “thin” regardless of their marketing. Leatherology also offers a personalized monogram option for up to four characters (in any of three sizes, two fonts, and four colors) on either the exterior or interior of the wallet. We were worried the black wallet would look boring, but the texture on the leather made it aesthetically pleasing even in such a neutral color. You could easily fit eight cards in the Leatherology wallet (six in the slots, plus two in the extra interior pockets). Cards slide in and out with ease, but the slots aren't so wide you’d worry that they’d slip out. Beyond its appearance, though, the wallet is just a simple pleasure to use. The stitching along the outside edges was tight and precise, especially compared with the widely spaced and somewhat amateurish stitches we saw on wallets from Phil’s Wallets and Thirteen50. The wallet felt pliable straight from the box. Unlike with some of the other leather wallets we tested, the leather on this wallet smelled distinctly of leather, rather than having a chemical odor that took a few days to off-gas. 8/4/2023 0 Comments Devour dinnersMany also have presets that make the cooking process easier. Some air fryers have knobs for controlling the temperature and the timer, while others have digital panels with LED/LCD displays. Usually, the standard size of a 3.7-litre to 4.1-litre air fryer is ideal for making food for up to four people. These aspects of an air fryer are essential to consider since they determine how much space the appliance is going to take in your kitchen and how much food you would be able to cook in it. If you are wondering which one is best for you, here are a few things to consider. The market offers a lot of options to pick from. No wonder air fryers have been flying off the shelves since they do pretty much everything that a microwave or an oven does. Whether you want to make roasted veggies, chicken, pizzas or popcorn bake a cake or cookies grill meat or boil potatoes or eggs, an air fryer will always come in handy. From fries, samosas and chips to potato wedges, burger patties, fried nuggets and cigar rolls, there’s nothing you cannot cook in an air fryer.Īdditionally, the use of an air fryer goes beyond frying food, as it can also be used for boiling, grilling, roasting, reheating and even baking. It is also a user-friendly and time-saving option that lets you make all sorts of scrumptious dishes. Using the least possible amount of oil, an air fryer can serve as a healthier alternative to the conventional method of deep-frying, reducing the fat content significantly. And the innovation in their technology has only touched new horizons if nothing else. Equipped with the Rapid Air technology that uses hot air circulation to cook food, air fryers have been a rage ever since. Little did the brand know they were going to create history by altering the ways of cooking in an exemplary manner. However, we live in a world where through technological advancements made to kitchen appliances, like an air fryer, you can make fried food a lot healthier.Ī clever blend of convenience and efficiency, the first-ever air fryer was launched back in 2010 by Philips. Having said that, one cannot ignore the fat and oil content of deep-fried food, which might lead to health concerns. While some of us love having fried food every now and then, others practically live off it for how delectable and soul-satiating it is. 8/4/2023 0 Comments Space runaway ideon deathIn the end, it’s a question of whether Cosmo and the others will destroy planet Buff or if the Buff Clan will wipe out the Earthlings aboard the Ideon. The inner workings of Ide are suddenly bombarded with an influx of two new life forms’ cultures, thought-processes, and desires. In order to make contact with the new intelligent lifeforms a few centuries down the road, and activate their presumed will, there needed to be something - Ideon or Solo Ship - for either the Earthlings or Buff Clan to find.īut there is one big problem that occurs. Tomino: Since the 6th civilization was destroyed for Ide, all that remained of them was the mechs they created. At present, only the support mechs are available, and their screens only resemble the Ide symbol. Ideon and Solo Ship aren’t finished products, so it’s possible they questioned what would happen if either held such power. Tomino: I’m not sure the humans - the 6th civilization - would view it like that. So it wasn’t an accident, but the 6th civilization’s desire to be destroyed by Ideon? When Ideon started up using the thoughts of the 6th civilization - that energy “Ide” - it’s like it had a will of its own. However, when they did that, their bodies simultaneously perished. They hypothesized that if they gathered up their collective wills, they would be able to utilize it as an energy source and low-and-behold it worked. The 6th civilization, that created Ideon and the Solo Ship, was looking to make a machine that could harness the power of Ide inside of it. Parallel to this, Ideon will refuse to respond, causing the docked parts to break off. At a specific moment, Ide will start to work as an actual energy source. Right now those support mechs are nothing but a nuisance. Wouldn’t the support mechs be in the way in that case? Tomino: That’s what you think, right? But that’s wrong. What?! It hasn’t? I thought it harnessed the emotional energy and released all of its power! Tomino: It hasn’t touched its true power. As of this interview, Ideon is left in its giant transformed mode after assumingly using its true power to take on the Earth mechs. (Editor: Wait, he isn’t talking about Newtypes, right?) If I had to put the idea in a sentence, I’d say “The collection of intelligent beings’ knowledge.” Ide acts as a way for viewers to more or less connect a name to an idea. Tomino: It’s a name, that’s all there is to it. It’s Mazinger Z’s power source and the base for Aphrodite A’s body, or am I wrong? My Toei knowledge is lacking. Tomino: Ide has stirred up quite a lot of criticism, but it’s like Japanium from Mazinger Z. We proceeded through production under the assumption that there wasn’t a real connection. They aren’t necessarily talking about our same galaxy. It’s the same when the Buff Clan refers to the galaxy. Tomino: In my mind, Ideon just takes place somewhere amongst the stars. Ideon is a planetary story, but unlike previous generations, the new SF trend is to have the setting in such-and-such galaxy at so-and-so planet. When Karala talks about their home she isn’t explicitly saying the Earth we live on, but a continental-based planet. Lifeforms from a water environment would call their home planet something like Aqua, so those from a land environment would most likely name it Earth. The intelligent beings would have absolutely called their own planet Earth. Although, it might have been better if we didn’t name it after a real galaxy. Taking that story into space, we arrived at space immigrants in the Andromeda Galaxy. It’s all very dream-like and not based on science at all. On the surface, it looks like a story of power relations, war, and the struggle between two races, but it lingers back to the same question - why is Ideon there? It’s a story of humans - intelligent beings - that wanted to take the power of reincarnation into their own hands. It doesn’t fuss with all the tiny details. What were you aiming for with Ideon’s story? That’s because the magazines decided to promote it left and right for us. WordPress, unfortunately, crops images oddly so the full version can be found here! This interview took place and was published after the run of the original Space Runaway Ideon TV series and prior to the release of the movies The Ideon: A Contact and The Ideon: Be Invoked (they were a double feature.) Spoilers for the original series and Zambot 3 are present, so be careful!įeature image for this article is fanart by Yamada Yuuji (twitter: & pixiv). General Description Spectra Photosync is the most advanced window film created by Prestige Film Technologies. $250 is on the lower end if you don't care about maximizing heat/uv reduction. I was very tempted to go with PureAuto before I decided on SRS, but at the end, SRS was cheapest ($280 for their in-house ceramic tint). I will need to bring it in as there are minor bubbling against the back glass but am torn whether I want that re-done as it might have a negative impact to the defrost grid lines. I just got my Camry tinted from SRS automotive tint in Mississauga, but I'm not 100% satisfied with the work. We're in Oakville, is there any other places you recommend? Is that reasonable price?ĭoes the quality of film matter? If so, which one should I get?Īlso, I was wondering if we can just purchase film and install it on our own? We are excited to be an exclusive dealer for this product and already have customers coming from lands far far away seeking this new age window film. To compliment this, they also put out stellar work. More importantly, we put it onto our spectrometer and no metals registered through it. With the film being made with no metals for heat rejection, it too will not interfere with any electronics inside the vehicle in any way. Prestige Film Technologies really knocked this one out of the park. The popular photosync tint shading is the 55% as that will still be a very light tint and stay compliant with the law in almost all 50 states. “Spectrally Selective” Automotive Window TintĪ standard Spectrally Selective film will maintain a consistent shading, this film actually has the ability to darken or lighten up to 10% depending on how serious the sun is on that particular day, place, or time. This coating will automatically adjust itself when certain wavelengths of the solar spectrum are exposed to the film making it what we call a “Spectrally Selective film”. The big difference with this film is that is contains a Solar Adaptive Nano Coating.
